Long Definition:
Percent of students in grades nine through twelve who were enrolled at least 30 days of the school year and were absent 10 percent or more of the days they were enrolled. Both excused and unexcused absences are counted. Suppressed data points have values of -1.

Purpose:
This indicator allows us to measure and compare absenteeism among students. Research has demonstrated that absences affect academic achievement, particularly for low-income students. Absenteeism may be also be an indicator of other barriers to learning and school success. Attendance rates alone can mask high absenteeism among subgroups of students.
Limitations:
Attendance/Absenteeism may be defined and/or reported differently across different schools and districts. Suppressed data points have values of -1.
