Long Definition:
Percent of students in grades nine through twelve enrolled at least 30 days who were absent from school less than 5% of the days they were enrolled. Both excused and unexcused absences are counted. Suppressed data points have values of -1.

Purpose:
This indicator allows us to measure and compare absenteeism among students. Research has demonstrated that absences affect academic achievement, particularly for low-income students. Absenteeism may be also be an indicator of other barriers to learning and school success. Attendance rates alone can mask high absenteeism among subgroups of students.
Limitations:
Attendance/Absenteeism may be defined and/or reported differently across different schools and districts. Suppressed data points have values of -1.
