% Were in Gang Activities at School - SALT ONLY

Short Definition: % students who took part in gang activities 1+ times during last month

Long Definition:

Percent of students who reported that during the last month they have taken part in gang activities one or more times. This indicator is discontinued for future comparisons because of lack of consistency between the questions in the SALT survey and the new SurveyWorks! questions.

Purpose:

This indicator is important due to the influence of peers on adolescent choices and behavior, and it is a marker for sensation-seeking behavior.

Limitations:

The last SALT survey was administered in 2007-08. The new SurveyWorks! survey is replacing SALT.

This indicator is discontinued for future comparisons because of lack of consistency between the questions in the SALT survey and the new SurveyWorks! questions.

Universe: Rhode Island public elementary, middle, high school students in participating schools and grades
