Short Definition: # acres of public outdoor recreation facilities per 1,000 residents
Long Definition:
Local and state conservation lands with year-round public access were included. Lands with limited public access (largely due to seasonal factors) were also included. Parks and playgrounds were included. Total acreage of public outdoor recreation facilities within each town was computed and divided by the town’s population from the 2010 census.

This indicator allows us to assess the ratio of acres designated as public outdoor recreational facility to number of residents as part of the Rhode Island Healthy Communities Plan Performance Measures.
