Short Definition: % students who were afraid at school 1+ times during the school year

Long Definition:

Percent of students who reported that during the school year, they have been afraid one or more times that someone will hurt or bother them at school. This indicator is discontinued for future comparisons because of lack of consistency between the questions in the SALT survey and the new SurveyWorks! questions.

Purpose:

This indicator allows for comparison of safety and learning environment between schools, and also allows for comparison with other education indicators.

Limitations:

The last SALT survey was administered in 2007-08. The new SurveyWorks! survey is replacing SALT.

This indicator is discontinued for future comparisons because of lack of consistency between the questions in the SALT survey and the new SurveyWorks! questions.

Universe: Rhode Island public elementary, middle, high school students in participating schools and grades
