% Beaten up at School - SALT ONLY

Short Definition: % students who were beaten up at school during the school year

Long Definition:

Percent of students who reported that during the school year someone had beaten them up or really hurt them when they were at school. This indicator is discontinued for future comparisons because of lack of consistency between the questions in the SALT survey and the new SurveyWorks! questions.

Purpose:

This indicator is a marker for other problem behaviors and an unsafe learning environment, an it is associated with serious injury-related health outcomes.

Limitations:

The last SALT survey was administered in 2007-08. The new SurveyWorks! survey is replacing SALT.

This indicator is discontinued for future comparisons because of lack of consistency between the questions in the SALT survey and the new SurveyWorks! questions.

Universe: Rhode Island public elementary, middle, high school students in participating schools and grades
