% Interpersonal Violence - SALT ONLY

Short Definition: % students who reported 3+ types of interpersonal violence

Long Definition:

Percent of students who reported that who were threatened to be beat up more than once and brought an object to school for protection more than once, and who were actually beaten up or really hurt more than once. This indicator is discontinued for future comparisons because of lack of consistency between the questions in the SALT survey and the new SurveyWorks! questions.

Purpose:

This indicator is a marker for other problem behaviors , an unsafe learning environment, and serious injury-related health outcomes.

Limitations:

The last SALT survey was administered in 2007-08. The new SurveyWorks! survey is replacing SALT.

This indicator is discontinued for future comparisons because of lack of consistency between the questions in the SALT survey and the new SurveyWorks! questions.

Universe: Rhode Island public elementary, middle, high school students in participating schools and grades
