% Offered Drugs at School Frequently - SALT ONLY

Short Definition: % students offered drugs at school frequently during the school year

Long Definition:

Percent of students who reported that during the school year someone offered or tried to sell them drugs at school 6 or more times.

Purpose:

This indicator allows for comparison of availability of drugs and drug use, which is important given the negative consequences of adolescent illicit drug use.

Limitations:

The last SALT survey was administered in 2007-08. The new SurveyWorks! survey is replacing SALT.

This indicator is discontinued for future comparisons because of lack of consistency between the questions in the SALT survey and the new SurveyWorks! questions.

Universe: Rhode Island public elementary, middle, high school students in participating schools and grades
