Short Definition: % students with any drug or alcohol use 1+ times during the past 30 days
Long Definition:
Percent of students who reported that they had any alcohol one or more time in the past 30 days or that had used illegal drugs one or more times in the past thirty days. This indicator is discontinued for future comparisons because of lack of consistency between the questions in the SALT survey and the new SurveyWorks! questions.

Purpose:
This indicator is a predictor of several negative health outcomes including alcohol and substance dependence, and is associated with other personal risk taking.
Limitations:
The last SALT survey was administered in 2007-08. The new SurveyWorks! survey is replacing SALT.
This indicator is discontinued for future comparisons because of lack of consistency between the questions in the SALT survey and the new SurveyWorks! questions.
